Annual winter tour with Tony Trischka, Hannah Read, Sean Trischka and Jared Engel
Bombyx Center for Arts & Equity, 130 Pine Street, Northampton, MA
Tony Trischka (banjos), Tim Eriksen (vocals, bajo sexto), Jared Engel (bass), Hannah Read (vocals, fiddle), Sean Trischka (drums, vocals). In his annual homage to the season, joined by a terrific band, banjo master Tony Trischka celebrates wintery Americana, turning his considerable melodic inventiveness loose on a wide variety of Americana: bluegrass, folk, originals, standards and obscuriana for the holidays and beyond. Tim Eriksen lends his inimitable voice to the proceedings, bringing rare and stirring examples of shapenote and early American traditions. One of the most influential banjo players in the roots music world, Grammy nominated Trischka is excited to perform this show, for the 26th year in a row with frequent collaborator the anomalous Tim Eriksen, with whom he also recorded two holiday records: Of a Winter’s Night (2014, Rounder) and Glory Shone Around (1995, Rounder).
